Focus on the customer

The Höganäs company vision is to inspire industry to make more with less. By utilizing the endless opportunities of their metal powders, they know that they can improve resource efficiency and lead a wave of change for the better.

In early 2017 the company was going through a major change in strategy, which affected how the company addressed the market through digital channels. The new strategic approach needed to be reflected on the Höganäs website, so that potential and existing customers would feel welcome to a specialist in their respective area.

What's the principle behind it?

Höganäs realization was that they needed to address the customers in a way the customers recognized and start presenting solutions around customer requirements rather than around the Höganäs products. In a stepwise approach, Höganäs conducted a pre-study, developed digital strategy and prototype site, and decided that EPiServer was the preferred platform choice.

Overall and basic functionality included a site that was to be responsive and mobile friendly, as well as be able to provide personalization functions and use best-of-breed technical solutions. Additional functionality taken into consideration when planning the set-up and structure, although not implemented in the initial build, was for the site to be prepared to handle gated information, e-campaigns and marketing. 

What we do?

The solution to be developed was required to support a long list of specific features set up by Höganäs. Some of these used the EPiServer platform as foundation for implementation, while others were more basic system and tool integrations. The key features included:

  • Powerful site search with EPiFind - the demands for internal search included a fast engine with support for auto-complete and filtering options for at least three categories.
  • A CMS-based PIM – all product information to be stored on the EPiServer platform as structured data facilitating use on different parts of the website. Navigation of the product offering to be supported by using either a selection of product group > product, or from a designated product search.
  • Integration of ImageVault DAM – EpiServer initially supports the ImageVault DAM solution and Höganäs primarily use it for web images. End result is a well-integrated media handling solution.
  • Integrated translation solution with LanguageWire – being a global industrial group, the demands on having information available in local languages are high. The new website was initially to be launched in six language versions. The EPiServer connector for LanguageWire was implemented in order to support an integrated solution resulting in both speed and reliability.

The solution

Petra was the selected partner for the whole process including: analysis, site prototyping, development, implementation and launch. The new website is built on EPiServer 11.

The project itself is a premiere example of how we accomplish great work together with a client - with a very close co-operation, an agile approach and an open and supportive environment.
